Term 4

Welcome back to term 4. What an exciting term we have planned!
We begin exploring water and sun safety by having a visit from Hiwi the Kiwi.
In week 2 we begin swimming lessons. These lessons will be everyday so the children need to bring their togs everyday.
Later in the term we will be exploring plant and gardening.

Our literacy program this term is using strategies that will be displayed on our 'cafe' wall. Come in and check it out. The 'Cafe' program and Daily 5 work together to support the children to become great readers with strong reading strategies.

Exciting times!

It's my bread.

This week we have been reading the book 'It's my bread'. So the children and I decided to make some bread and butter.
A fantastic chance to explore science through the 'changes in matter' that happen during this process.

The Bread

The Butter

This started as a liquid and through action became a solid. Exciting stuff!

Week 3

We are continuing to add to the daily 5 reading program and last week we added the step of 'reading to self'. This week we will explore the next steps in this program of learning the steps to 'read to someone else' and 'listening to reading'. We are also supporting the children's learning of sight words through the Early Words program. If you are wanting to know any more about this programs please ask the children or call in and see them in action.

Have a great week.

We are exploring changes in matter.

We are learning about the different types of matter... solid, gas, and liquid. This is an fun and exciting topic to explore as we become young investigators.

This week we continue observing our tadpoles as they turn into froglets. We are also beginning to investigate other creatures and their life cycle beginning with the butterfly and then on to snails. I expect and encourage your child to share their growing knowledge about these creatures as well as how we can find out about them. We will add any facts and information that your child brings from your discussion to our knowledge poster. Enjoy your week!
